"A wife of noble character who can I find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her children arise and call her blessed... " -Proverbs 31:10,28

Solomon, who wrote most of the book of Proverbs, was often called the wisest man who ever lived. He filled this book of the Bible with practical advice that shows us how to gain wisdom and live a life that pleases God.

The very last chapter of Proverbs is devoted to creating a picture of a wise woman who is completely devoted to God. She's referred to often as the Proverbs 31 Woman.

This woman is not just an inspiration, but she's the picture of resourcefulness, compassion and integrity. She's someone that definitely sets a great example. Not an example for us to imitate, but instead an example for each of us to aspire to be all that God made as to be as an individual.

I don't think it's a picture of perfection that Solomon was describing here in this scripture, but instead the picture of a woman using her God given talents to the best of her ability and then relying on God to go with her. That's the kind of woman I aspire to be.

When I lay my head down on my pillow at night, I want to know that I've tried my very best to use the gifts that God has given me. I want to be resourceful, compassionate and integrity filled... a woman completely devoted to God. How about you?

Read Proverbs 31:1-31 for the complete story and for more on gaining wisdom.

What do these scriptures speak to me about my own aspirations?
