As we move in to this holiest of weeks, may we all be reminded that the Holy Spirit lives in each one of us as Christians. What a gift we have been given!
In this scripture Jesus was promising the disciples that when HE ascended into heaven, HE would send the Holy Spirit to live in all believers' hearts. He promised to give each of us a deep and lasting peace that only comes from knowing HIM.
This is such a comforting scripture, especially for the times we are living through. Isn't it reassuring to know that even with all the war and insanities swirling around us, we do not need to have a troubled heart or be afraid? We can each absolutely embrace uncertainty, right here. Right now, as we live out our time on earth.
We are promised as followers of Jesus Christ that we have access to a deep and lasting peace. A peace that isn't found in this world, but only comes from knowing HIM. What a gift... to not have to fear the present or be worried about the future.
As we approach Good Friday and Easter Sunday, let's each get some "facetime" with Jesus and thank HIM for not only the gift of eternal life, but also for the gift of HIS Holy Spirit. Let's be sure to recollect what a gift HE truly is, along with all the beautiful things that come with having a peaceful heart.
