What's the Best Way to Deal With Grief?

Bereavement and grief Coping with grief Coping with loss Dealing with grief grief and loss how to deal with grief sympathy gifts

Loss is hard! And everyone of us will experience it sooner or later, whether we like it or not. The death of someone close to us, a divorce, the loss of a job, a betrayal or even a financial loss.

Feelings of sadness, hopelessness, anger and utter despair are all very natural feelings when your grieving. All the questions, including "why did this happen?" "is there really a God who cares?" are also natural questions you'll find yourself asking.

So what's the best way to deal with grief and begin working through the feelings and the questions? Start by being very intentional about inviting God into your situation. You might even begin journaling about your feelings to express and work through them. Simply ask yourself, "what am I feeling?" and start writing.

Look up and memorize scriptures that address loss. Scriptures like Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." The secret to experiencing peace through this kind of difficult season is to come close to God and remember HE is with you.

Find a devotional that will give you help and insight into what you are going through. https://truepostinc.com/collections/scripture-devotional-card-sets/products/navigating-through-loss-scripture-devotional-card-set Many times this can be just what you need, as it allows you to lean in on the experience of those that have been through something similar.

Reach out to God in prayer and ask: "Lord if this situation can't be changed, please change me so I can move through it more victoriously." Look for the important lessons to be learned through this season, and, although it may not be easy, use this time to get better and not bitter.

Even when you don't understand the "why," follow and trust God anyway because in God's economy there will always be unanswered questions. Trust HIM to help you heal and gain wisdom, so you can navigate through the loss with love, hope and grace.
